Hi, I’m Samantha Thames!
I am currently working toward my birth doula certification through DONA International. Originally from the Black Hills, SD, I am now located in the South Metro area of Minneapolis, MN. When I’m not homeschooling my 4 “babies”, you can find me at my church helping wherever and however I can, outside gardening, camping, doing yard work, paddle boarding in the spring and summer, and in the winter I can be found crocheting, working on calligraphy, caring for my indoor plants, and researching everything about the human body - nutrition, living clean, and staying healthy.
After my personal, unmedicated birth experiences with all 4 of my babies, with two of those births receiving care from a doula, a passion was ignited within me. I knew I wanted to provide the same love and support I had received to other women, during all stages of pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. So I began my journey to complete my certification through DONA International. I truly believe that having the right support person during labor and delivery can help a mother get started on the right path into motherhood - where you feel safe, supported, and empowered. Women were created with the unique, beautiful, and powerful ability to bring forth the next generation, and I would love the opportunity to come alongside you as you step into your own journey.

More about DONA International

DONA (Doulas of North America) International “…is the world’s leading doula certification organization, empowering doulas to provide compassionate, evidence-based support to families.” (dona.org)

I chose to be certified through DONA because of their rigorous program and requirements to achieve a doula certification. Most doulas are not required to obtain a formal certification, and I believe this credentialing sets me apart as I obtain knowledge passed down from incredibly experienced doulas to implement into my own practice.

I also love that I am required to recertify every 3 years, with 15 credits of continuing education. This keeps me up to date on new birthing practices, comfort measures, and current pregnancy, postpartum, and breastfeeding techniques.
